My opponent continues to falsely claim that I oppose President Trump on NAFTA. Here are the facts:
Free and fair trade is vital to the U.S. economy, and access to foreign markets for U.S. products is critical to producers in our District. In 2017, President Trump, his Administration, and various U.S. industries began work to revise and improve the NAFTA agreement between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. While NAFTA was far from perfect, simply walking away from NAFTA without a replacement would have cost the U.S. beef industry nearly $1.8 billion annually. On behalf of producer-members, TCFA worked with Administration officials not just on the details of NAFTA 2.0 but to educate the Administration on the impact that terminating NAFTA without a replacement would have on agriculture. NAFTA 2.0 was eventually renamed the U.S. - Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). U.S. agricultural producers unanimously supported the updated agreement, and TCFA proudly worked with President Trump on this critical agreement. Texas Cattle Feeders Association - was also the first agriculture group in Texas to endorse President Trump for President in 2016.
